Edgar Wright

Edgar Wright grew up in the UK and began honing his signature style shooting with a Super 8 camera as a teenager and starring his friends. At the age of 20 he directed A Fistful of Fingers, a no-budget western that got limited distribution but opened the door to television, where he directed several comedy shows and two seasons of Spaced, for Channel 4. Here he began his collaboration with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as with producer Nira Park, with whom he has worked on everything he has done so far. The series was the perfect springboard for the feature film Zombies Party (A Night of... Death), released in 2004, which was followed by the action comedy Fatal Weapon and Welcome to the End of the World. These three films, all co-written with Simon Pegg, are known as the "Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy". Between the second and third he co-wrote and directed Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. He has collaborated with well-known filmmakers. He co-wrote The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson; he directed the fake trailer "Don't", screened between the double feature Grindhouse, by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. As executive producer he has Joe Cornish's Attack the Block and Ben Wheatley's Tourists to his credit. In 2017 he released Baby Driver, starring Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx, which grossed over $220 million worldwide, as well as being nominated for three Oscars and two BAFTAs, taking home the BAFTA for Best Editing. In 2018 he founded with Nira Park the production company Complete Fiction Pictures, which also involves his regular collaborators Joe Cornish and Rachael Prior. He directed Last Night in Soho, co-written with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, which is scheduled for release this fall. The film stars Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy.
