Koldo Almandoz

Graduate in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication. Director of the art and culture magazine The Balde (2003-2017). Member of the Punto de Vista Festival (2013-2017) selection committee. Professor at the EQZE Film School. Creation and curatorship of different cultural projects and exhibitions. Screenwriter and director of radio fictions. Has given several masterclasses, workshops and conferences. Author of various books and founder of the Farmazia Beltza publishing house.

Has written and directed films in different genres and formats. Among others, the feature films Oreina -Ciervo- (The Deer, 2018), Sîpo Phantasma (Ghost Ship, 2016) and the short films Plâgan (Plague, 2017), Narcisso (2016), Deus et Machina (2012), Ahate pasa -Pase de patos- (Duck Crossing, 2009), Amuak -Anzuelos- (Fishhooks, 2004) and Belarra -Hierba- (Grass, 2002). His works have been selected for and have won awards at numerous international festivals, such as the Semaine de la Critique Cannes, Rotterdam Film Festival, San Sebastian Film Festival, Gijon Film Fest, Zinebi, Bafici, Festival dei Popoli, Cartagena de Indias Film Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival, Teheran Film Festival... Mexico’s Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival recently turned the spotlight on his career at its last edition.

For years he has been making his social security payments under the heading of artists and bullfighters.
