In 1975 Tony Palmer travelled to Wigan, the epicentre of northern soul, and made a vibrant documentary in which he analyses the clubs where this music reached its peak of popularity and the phenomenon of the allnighters fleeing a grey social reality to take refuge in a never-ending party.
